The Alberta government announced arson was behind a wildfire that ravaged the town of Slave Lake the previous May. Sustainable Resource Development Minister Frank Oberle (OH'-behr-lee) said the province's investigation files were turned over to the RCMP. Oberle said the department ruled out all other causes of the fire. (About one-third of Slave Lake was destroyed. The blaze charred 400 homes and businesses and left 2,000 people homeless.)
