At a second court martial in Halifax, Matthew Wilcox was again found guilty of criminal negligence causing death and negligent performance of a military duty in the 2007 shooting death of Corporal Kevin Megeney inside a tent at Kandahar Airfield. The verdict in his first court martial was set aside after his lawyers argued the military jury wasn't properly balanced. Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, the victim's uncle, George Megeney, said the time that had passed since his nephew's death had not helped ease the family's heartbreak. (Wilcox was sentenced to four years in prison.)
