Canada pulled out of the world's only binding climate treaty. Environment Minister Peter Kent announced on December 12th that Canada was withdrawing from the Kyoto Protocol. He said Canada wants to fight climate change in a way that's fair, efficient and covers all major emitters. (Canada signed on to Kyoto in the late 1990's, but neither the current Conservative government nor their Liberal predecessors met targets.)
