When Laurence and Andrea Davis of Calgary sat down to have dinner aboard the Costa Concordia cruise ship, they had no idea that moments later they would jump into the cold Mediterranean Sea and swim for their lives to shore. Their son-in-law, David Hornsteen, said in a phone call home shortly after the disaster, they described a scene of chaos and little direction from the crew. (The Costa Concordia ran aground and capsized January 13th off the Tuscan island of Giglio after Captain Francesco Schettino took it off course in a stunt. He stands accused of causing the shipwreck, manslaughter and abandoning the ship before all passengers were evacuated.)
