A jury found three family members guilty of four counts each of first-degree murder. Jurors decided 58-year-old Mohammad Shafia, his 42-year-old wife Tooba Yahya and 21-year-old son Hamed were guilty of the most serious charges against them. They were convicted of killing Shafia sisters 19-year-old Zainab, 17-year-old Sahar and 13-year-old Geeti as well as first wife Rona Amir Mohammad. Crown lawyer Gerard Laarhuis (LAHR'-hows) lamented the deaths. (Judge Robert Maranger called the murders "despicable," "heinous" and "cold-blooded.")
