Twenty-year-old Ryan Dickinson, the first person convicted in Vancouver's Stanley Cup riot, was handed a 17-month jail sentence on February 16th. Dickinson admitted to trashing an unmarked police car and vandalizing a store. Vancouver police chief Jim Chu said the sentence was good news for the city. (Dickenson's lawyer argued that the young man had become caught up in the moment.)
