A new monument to mark the moment Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope now overlooks the place where he dipped his artificial leg in the ocean in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. A bronze sculpture of Fox near the water's edge was dedicated April 12th, 32 years to the day from when he began his cancer-fighting run. Judith Fox-Adler is Terry's sister and international director of The Terry Fox Foundation. She said her brother could never imagine the mark he left on the world. (Terry Fox events across Canada and in 30 countries around the world raise millions of dollars each year for cancer research. Terry Fox died in 1981, nine months after another bout of cancer forced him to give up his cross-Canada run.)
