BC Finance Minister Kevin Falcon said the new seven per cent PST would include the same exemptions as the old provincial tax. (British Columbians turned down the HST in a referendum the previous summer. Falcon, who once called the PST a stupid tax, said he still didn't like the PST, and called the new version a "better stupid.")
