On June 1st, General Motors announced plans to close its consolidated plant in Oshawa, Ontario. That would leave only the flex assembly plant which employs two-thousand people. GM had already closed a truck plant in the city in 2009, cutting 26-hundred positions. CAW Local 222 president Chris Buckley said GM's decision would affect many workers. (The plant produces the Chevrolet Impala and the Equinox.)
