The public hearings into the Robert Pickton case finished after more than seven months of testimony in Vancouver. The inquiry was the subject of complaints and controversy before it had even begun, with some of the families of Pickton's victims complaining the process was too short and incomplete. But commissioner Wally Oppal said he was confident he was able to do his job. (A final report released by Oppal in November included recommendations to fix the problems that allowed Pickton to continue killing for so long.)
