Female Canadian border guard Lori Bowcock was shot in the neck October 16th while in her customs booth at the Douglas crossing in Surrey, BC. She was seriously injured, but expected to make a full recovery. Kim Scoville of the Canada Border Services Agency described what happened immediately after a bullet pierced Bowcock's neck. (The American gunman died after turning his weapon on himself.)
