A rare state funeral was held October 26th for former Ontario lieutenant-governor Lincoln Alexander. Alexander, who was also Canada's first black MP, died on October 19th at age 90. With Alexander's casket at center stage, members of his family and dignitaries such as former premier David Peterson spoke of Alexander's life. (Thousands lined the streets of Hamilton -- many wiping away tears -- as they watched the hearse make its way from city hall to Hamilton Place for the service.)
