Stephen Poloz (POH'-lohz), the former head of Export Development Canada, was named as the next governor of the Bank of Canada. Poloz said the Bank of Canada had served Canadians with excellence and integrity and he looked forward to building on the stewardship provided by predecessor Mark Carney. (Carney left June 1st to head up the Bank of England.)
