Federal Court Judge Richard Mosley concluded that fraud was definitely a factor in the rash of misleading robocalls that bedeviled voters in six federal ridings in the 2011 election, but not enough of one to justify overturning the results. Council of Canadians executive director Gary Neil said the ruling was a win for his side. (On May 29th, the federal Conservatives and NDP, Ontario's Progressive Conservatives, Alberta's Wildrose Party, Liberal MP Marc Garneau, Conservative MP Blake Richards and Edmonton-based RackNine Inc. were fined a combined 369-thousand dollars as part of a wide-ranging investigation into the use of robocalls during the 2011 federal election.)
