The remnants of tropical storm Andrea dumped heavy rain in many parts of the Maritime provinces and was blamed for knocking out power to thousands of customers. Doug Mercer of the Canadian Hurricane Centre in Halifax said most areas received around 60 millimeters of rain. Parts of Newfoundland and Labrador received about 55 millimeters before Andrea swirled out to sea.
