The Quebec government tabled its controversial right-to-die legislation in the national assembly. The controversial Bill 52 essentially outlined the conditions necessary for someone to get medical assistance to die. It also spelled out the requirements necessary before a doctor could accept. Quebec Social Services Minister Veronique Hivon (hee-VOH') said the bill was a response to those who are suffering.
