As rain-swollen rivers burst their banks across southern Alberta, more than a dozen towns declared states of emergency, with entire communities including High River and Bragg Creek under mandatory evacuation orders. In Calgary, officials started a series of rolling evacuations that resulted in nearly 75-thousand people being forced from their homes. Calgary deputy police chief Trevor Daroux said much of the Saddledome -- home to the Calgary Flames -- was under water. (More than 12-hundred Canadian Armed Forces troops were sent in to help with the disaster.)
