On July 24th, a two-year-old girl and three-month-old baby boy were pronounced dead in hospital after being found in critical condition at their Winnipeg home. The body of the children's mother 32-year-old Lisa Gibson, who was being treated for post-partum depression, was pulled from the Red River four days later. Constable Eric Hofley announced the recovery of Gibson's body. (On November 13th the province decided there would be no inquest into whether Gibson received the help she needed before she drowned her two small children and committed suicide. Manitoba's chief medical examiner recommended instead that the province's College of Physicians and Surgeons investigate the treatment the 32-year-old received.)
