Nova Scotia's new Cyber-Safety Act took effect, with the goal of defending the victims of cyberbullying. Canadian Press reporter Melanie Patten said under the new law, victims or the parents of victims can apply for a protection order. (The act was introduced in April of 2013 following the death of Rehtaeh (ruh-TAY'-ah) Parsons, who hanged herself after what her family said was months of bullying.)
