Canadian Auto Workers president Ken Lewenza and Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union president Dave Coles, the heads of two of Canada's biggest private-sector unions, announced their resignations so a new set of leaders could take command as the two groups joined together in a historic merger on Labor Day weekend. But Lewenza said he would act as an "ambassador" for the new organization as it worked to sign up new members.
