Dr. Donald Low, who became a trusted face and voice of Toronto's SARS response effort in 2003, died on September 18th. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier in 2013. Prior to his death, Low made an appeal for Canada to change the law and legalize assisted suicide. In an emotional video shot eight days before he died and posted on YouTube, Low appealed for Canadian doctors and others who are against assisted suicide to rethink their opposition to letting terminally ill patients die with dignity. (Low was 68.)
