Toronto-based filmmaker John Greyson and Dr. Tarek Loubani from London, Ontario, who were held for seven weeks in an Egyptian prison in what they described as squalid conditions, were freed on October 5th. Bureaucratic red tape barred them from leaving the country until October 11th. Upon their arrival in Toronto, Greyson told reporters they never expected to be treated so unfairly by Egyptian officials. (The pair were arrested on August 16th during violent anti-government demonstrations in Cairo.)
