The world's first Bitcoin ATM went into operation in a Vancouver coffee shop, allowing customers to exchange cash for the decentralized online currency. The kiosk is from Las Vegas-based company RoboCoin, and CEO Jordan Kelley said the machine was a much more convenient alternative to other forms of banking. Customers using the ATM needed to scan their palm or a code from their smart phone, choose a transaction, and the Bitcoins would be transferred to their digital wallet accessible by an app.
