On November 5th, Senators voted to suspend three of their colleagues -- Patrick Brazeau, Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin -- for allegedly claiming improper living and travel expenses. Conservative Senate Leader Claude Carignan said the three deserved to be suspended for misuse of taxpayer money. (The three former members of the Conservative caucus were allowed to retain their health, dental and life insurance benefits, but would be barred from the upper chamber for the duration of the parliamentary session, which could last another two years.)
