On January 7th, 19 cars and a locomotive of a CN freight train derailed near Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, leading to a large fire of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas and forcing the evacuation of about 150 people. Andrew Simpson was playing cards with his uncle when the derailment occurred.
