Long-track speedskater Denny Morrison won silver in the men's one-thousand meters at the Sochi Games on February 12th. Canadian teammate Gilmore Junio gave up his spot in the race, saying Morrison was a better bet for that distance. Back home in Calgary on February 25th, Junio said he hoped to have a chance to win a medal of his own at the 2018 Games.
