Philippe Couillard led the Liberals to a majority win in the Quebec election, as voters rebuffed the incumbent PQ's agenda for a possible third sovereignty referendum and its divisive secular charter. PQ leader Pauline Marois lost her riding and resigned, just 18 months after coming to power with a minority government. In his victory speech, Couillard spoke of unity.
