The 22-year-old son of a veteran Calgary police officer stabbed to death five people, all in their 20s, at an off-campus house party involving University of Calgary students celebrating the last day of classes. Matthew Douglas de Grood was charged with five counts of first-degree murder. Calgary police Chief Rick Hanson said the crime was unprecedented in the city's history.
