On April 15th, the 22-year-old son of a veteran Calgary police officer stabbed to death five people, all in their 20s, at an off-campus house party involving University of Calgary students celebrating the last day of classes. Matthew Douglas de Grood was charged with five counts of first-degree murder. On April 17th, Douglas de Grood and his wife, Susan, stood outside the office of their son Matthew's lawyer to express their grief.
