On September 10th, Toronto mayor Rob Ford was admitted to hospital after complaining for months of abdominal pain. Doctors discovered a tumor and a biopsy found it was malignant liposarcoma -- a type of cancer that arises from fat cells and can attack a variety of soft tissues. Two days later, he withdrew his bid for re-election, choosing instead to run again for his old council seat. His councilor brother, Doug, entered the mayoral race in his stead. Doug Ford said it was a tough week for the Ford clan.
