Peter DeGroot was shot and killed in a confrontation with two members of the RCMP emergency response team, five days after he had exchanged gunfire with police in the small southeastern community of Slocan, BC. RCMP Superintendent Frank Smart said there was an "interaction" at a cabin between the 45-year-old and two members of the response team.
