A teenage girl who was viciously assaulted and left for dead last month says there needs to be an end to violence against indigenous women. Rinelle Harper was honoured in a special ceremony at the start of a meeting in Winnipeg of the Assembly of First Nations. The 16-year-old called on delegates to pressure the federal government for change. (The teen was attacked and left for dead near the Assiniboine River in Winnipeg last month. She somehow survived and has been called a hero by some for escaping the fate of hundreds of other missing and murdered aboriginal women)
