Blizzard conditions are hampering travel and causing power outages throughout the Maritimes. Flights are cancelled and schools, government offices and universities are closed because of the stiff winds and heavy snowfall. By mid-day, more than 600 customers of N-B Power were without electricity. Utility spokeswoman Marie-Andree Bolduc says the weather is so bad, it is hampering the ability for crews to respond. (The messy system had already shuttered schools and businesses in the eastern United States, with thousands of flights also being cancelled.)
