The lawyer for a man accused of possessing chemicals and uttering threats says Christopher Burton Phillips will try to get bail at a hearing next week. Police have alleged that Phillips threatened a police officer and possessed a weapon -- a toxic chemical (osmium tetroxide) -- for the purpose of committing an offence. Crown prosecutor Terri Lipton says for now, they oppose Phillips' release. (Phillips was arrested at an Ottawa hotel last week, as two areas in Halifax were under evacuation orders over concerns about the chemicals.)
