An official with Nova Scotia's Transportation Department says weather conditions remain extreme on many of the province's roads and highways. Kevin Mitchell says conditions are particularly bad in northern Nova Scotia and into Cape Breton. (Mitchell says Highway 104 and the Cobequid Pass remain closed to traffic. He says the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton is also closed to all traffic because of drifting snow and poor visibility.)
