Preview Clip

No fire trucks responded to a house fire on a Saskatchewan reserve that killed two children. The volunteer fire chief in Loon Lake, near the Makwa Sahgaiehcan (Sah-GAYG-gen) First Nation, says he got an automatic call about the blaze. But his crew didn't go. Larry Heon (HEE'-on) says the reserve was behind in its bills and sent a letter cancelling its contract last year with the village for fire services. (Chief Richard Ben says he thought the band was still paying Loon Lake for firefighting. RCMP say they were the only first-responders who showed up at the fire.)
