Winnipeg city staff say a false E-coli bacteria result was to blame for a massive boil-water advisory imposed on the city's 700-thousand residents last month. Waste and water director Diane Sacher (SATCH'-uhr) says her department is confident the water system was not contaminated. But she says just to be sure, they've ordered an independent audit into how water samples are taken and analyzed. (Sacher told a city council committee the province has also ordered an assessment of Winnipeg's water system, which is due by the end of April.)
