The Canadian Space Agency is getting a new president next month. Prime Minister Harper has announced that Sylvain Laporte will take over effective March 9th. Laporte has had a career in the public service that has lasted more than two decades, including with the Canadian military. Ron Holdway, an independent space consultant, says Laporte has a lot of experience working with the government and that's a good thing. (Laporte is currently the Commissioner of Patents and Registrar of Trade-marks with Industry Canada. He has also held various positions at Canada Post for almost 10 years.)
