It was standing room only as the preliminary hearing for a man accused in Calgary's worst mass murder began today. Matthew de Grood sat quietly during the proceedings. The court was filled with the friends and family of five young adults who were killed at a house party last April. De Grood's lawyer, Allan Fay, says there was no thought given to waiving the preliminary. (De Grood is charged in the deaths of Lawrence Hong, Josh Hunter, Kaitlin Perras, Zackariah Rathwell and Jordan Segura.)
