Prime Minister Harper says his government will introduce legislation next week to ensure the most dangerous murderers don't return to the streets. He says some offenders could be sentenced to life without parole. But Catherine Latimer, the head of the John Howard Society of Canada, says current laws are already keeping the worst criminals off the streets. (The legislation would apply to those convicted of first-degree murder involving the killing of police officers or correctional officers, kidnapping, sexual assault or other "brutal" crimes.)
