Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger has survived a challenge to his leadership by the narrowest of margins. Selinger beat former health minister Theresa Oswald by 33 votes on the second ballot of a leadership race prompted by an internal revolt within the governing NDP. Selinger says the contest will make the party stronger. (Selinger was forced into the leadership race after Oswald and other senior party members called on him to resign last October, as the party slumped in opinion polls.)
