Police say it's fortunate no one was hurt yesterday when a riderless snowmobile careened along the Trans-Canada Highway at 50-kilometres per hour in western Newfoundland. RCMP Corporal Dean Hyde says the runaway sled bounced off snowbanks and crossed the highway at least three times before it flipped over near Pasadena. (Hyde says at one point, an officer in an unmarked cruiser tried to force the machine off the road, but the runaway sled got away.)
