Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O'Toole has announced a new initiative in the government's effort to improve its relations with veterans. He announced a proposed new Family Caregiver Relief Benefit -- a tax-free grant of just over 72-hundred dollars per year. (The plight of families caring for the wounded came into sharp focus last spring when the wife of a soldier with PTSD was ignored by then-veterans affairs minister Julian Fantino in a confrontation played out before T-V cameras.)
