A Winnipeg police officer who encountered a missing teen before her body was found in Red River has been suspended without pay. Tina Fontaine, who was 15, was in a vehicle in pulled over by two officers more than a week after she was reported missing, but she was not taken into custody. Tina's great-aunt, Thelma Fontaine, says if police had done their job, the girl would be alive today. (A few hours after police encountered Tina, she was found passed out in an alley in downtown Winnipeg. Paramedics took her to hospital, then she was picked up by social workers a few hours later and ran away again.)
