Canadians can join the world in marking Earth Hour by turning off their lights this evening between 8-30 and 9-30. Earth Hour is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about conserving energy and fighting climate change. Ontario Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Glen Murray says the provincial government encourages Ontarians to participate in Earth Hour -- and suggests the federal government could be doing more to fight climate change. (The Ontario government says people can take steps to reduce their energy consumption including using solar power to help heat homes, installing weatherstripping, using a programmable thermostat, and changing the furnace filter.)
