Accident investigators say the Air Canada passenger jet that crashed at the Halifax airport touched down 335 metres short of the runway. The 133 passengers and five crew survived the crash, though about two-dozen were taken to hospital for treatment of mainly minor injuries. Transportation Safety Board spokesman Mike Cunningham says that on its way down the plane hit an antenna array that took off the main landing gear. (All but one of the people taken to hospital have now been released.)
