The prime minister says he expects the effects of falling oil prices to be short-term. Harper made the comment in the House of Commons today as he was questioned by NDP Leader Tom Mulcair, who raised concerns about figures showing the economy shrank in January. (Statistics Canada says gross domestic product dipped 0.1 per cent in the first month of the year. But that was actually a better reading than economists had predicted.)
