The Harper government is offering yet another new lump-sum benefit to the country's most critically wounded soldiers. Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O'toole says the critical injury benefit will provide a tax free, 70-thousand-dollar award to wounded soldiers and veterans.('"..their six.") (O'Toole says the new benefit is retroactive, and troops injured since 2006 can apply.)
