Prime Minister Stephen Harper says the Conservative government wants to open the door to well-paying jobs by expanding access to post-secondary education. Harper has announced the government is extending Canada Student Grants Program be open to students seeking skills training in shorter programs. H e says training for many well-paying careers doesn't take a full year. (Harper says people will now be able to apply for financial assistance for courses that list a minimum of 34 weeks, instead of the current 60 weeks.)
