An animal rights group has filed complaints with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Competition Bureau against Maple Lodge Farms, one of the country's largest chicken producers. Anna Pippus, a spokeswoman with Animal Justice, says the company makes false and misleading claims by portraying an image of a small-scale, pastoral farming operation.
